SERVICES STREAMING AUDIO & VIDEO TO YOUR MOBILE

Some call it a bore, but wait, if I had access to any online content I wished, through my cellphone with my own playlists, feeds, in real time, at a reasonnable rate, I would like it. And we are not quite there yet, with the current services, are we ?

The new-born
Buzzwire lets you stream video, audio, and live internet radio to your mobile phone — as long as it is a 3G device, with no download required. The beta was launched yesterday. Buzzwire says that it is plug-and-play, and its team has experience working with international mobile carriers (Four of the five top execs, including CEO Andrew MacFarlane, are ex-Openwave).

Main competitors are
MyWaves (free service, claims 1M users) and MobiTV (charges $9.99 per month, and includes advertising) focusing on video. and requiring downloads.
What is the experience for the user? You can create your own mobile content home page. Nice, huh? First, you visit Buzzwire Web site and create an account, you browse through the video, audio, and internet radio content it offers and add channels to your subscriptions, which then appears on your Buzzwire mobile homepage. Interesting. Users can also share audio and video files and playlists.
Buzzwire
claims that it stands apart from other mobile TV plays because it uses 3G networks and doesn't require special client software or hardware on the handsets. Here, I have to say that this is pretty incredible -although users do need to have Web-browsing software enabled on their phones, but no little software to install at all?!
