SONY'S GROUPER CRACKLES

Sony turns its video sharing site into a kind of TV & movie studio. Aha! Sony's Grouper, initially focused on user-generated video, is becoming something closer to a production studio, renamed Crackle. Here is Grouper founder Josh Felser's comment: "We all know what happened to the user-generated content space—it's gotten really fragmented and hard to monetize... With this new service, it's dead to us. We're out of that business. We're focused on emerging talent, on finding the next generation of producers, directors, and writers."

Do you remember when Sony bought Grouper last year for $65 million ?
Perhaps this UGC business is none of Giant-thinking businesses ?
